In this paper the literature review is done for different compensation techniques to reduce the nonlinear distortion for optical coherent systems. Comparative analysis is done so for dispersion compensation fiber, the method of fiber Bragg grating, digital signal processing (DSP), and pre- and post-symmetric-DCF techniques. The digital signal processing is very practical for all types of nonlinear distortion, as it is minimized while the dispersion technique is used to compensate for the dispersion loss only and other methods are useful to reduce nonlinear distortion.
